Responsibilities

The Automotive Controller will  be responsible for overseeing &  managing the day to day accounting operations of both our Lancaster & Columbia locations.

Accounting office is located in the Columbia location but will need to maintain an office at both locations.

The Automotive Controller will ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with all accounting processes and policies

Keep the Leadership Team informed on the trends and cash needs of the business

Develop and maintain an effective cash management system

Close the books accurately each month

Reviewing all financial statements and ledgers, and working with the accounting staff to clear up any discrepancies.

Prepare complete financial statements and submit to the manufacturer and management in accordance with established timeframes

Prepare and submit required statements and reports

Interpret and analyze financial statements

Preparing all taxes and filing forms with the government

Meeting with the department managers regularly to go over business matters and develop plans to increase profitability.

Assist department managers in reading and interpreting their financial reports

Respond to request for information and assistance in a timely manner

Work with General Manager/Owner Operator to improve revenue or reduce expense

Work with staff to ensure that corporate initiatives are attained

Manage and safeguard the stores assets and ensure that internal controls are in place

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Five + years of automotive office manager or controller experience required

Working knowledge of dealership financial statements

Ability to explain information in an understandable manner

Strong analytical skills

Detail oriented

Excellent communication skills written, email and verbal

Outstanding organizational and time management skills

Effective leadership skills

Ability to coach and grow a team

Reynolds and Reynolds experience a PLUS

Micro-Soft Office Suite experience required

Superior accounting skills and tax knowledge
